Tim Moore (North Carolina politician)

Timothy Keith Moore (born October 2, 1970) is a member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's 111th House district, including constituents in Cleveland County. Moore, a Republican, is currently serving his seventh term in the House of Representatives. After the 2014 elections, Moore was selected by his fellow Republicans as their choice for Speaker of the House for the 2015-2016 session.〔(WRAL.com, "House Republicans choose Tim Moore as speaker designee," November 22, 2014 )〕 Moore was elected Speaker unanimously by the full House and was sworn in on January 14, 2015.〔(News & Observer, "NC House Speaker Tim Moore talks bipartisanship, sets agenda in first day," January 14, 2015 )〕
==Early life and education==
Speaker Moore was born and raised in Cleveland County. He graduated from Kings Mountain High School in 1988, and went on to attend Campbell University. Prior to his junior year in college, Moore transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned his B.A. in Political Science in 1992. He went on to law school at the Oklahoma City University School of Law and earned his J.D. in 1995. Following law school, Moore returned to Cleveland County to practice law. From 1995-2009, he practiced with the firm of Flowers, Martin, Moore, & Ditz, P.A. in Shelby, North Carolina. In March 2009, Moore opened in own private firm in Kings Mountain, representing clients throughout the State of North Carolina in both state and federal courts on a variety of civil and criminal matters.
In the late 1990s, Moore served as the Chairman of the Cleveland County Republican Party and from 1997-2001 served on the University of North Carolina Board of Governors. Additionally, he has been active on a number of other boards, committees, and civic groups including the Shelby Rotary Club, Boy Scouts, Life Enrichment Center’s Board of Directors, the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, and Cleveland County Partnership for Children.
